Frank Gambale unplugs for Natural High, pulling out his acoustic guitar for a nine track
instrumental CD recoded with pianist Otmaro Ruiz (who has been a member of John McLaughlin’s Heart of Things touring band and the Robben Ford/Jimmy Haslip/Vinnie Colaiuta collaborative Jing Chi) and bassist Alain Caron (a founding member of the '80s Canadian fusion group UZEB). No drumming per se, but percussionist Mike Shapiro adds his beats to four cuts. The result is a mainstream jazz record that will appeal to fusion fans since they'll find it
with no less energy than a typical Gambale release. Even on acoustic guitars, Gamable
delivers the speed and dexterity he has been known for since his first recordings. As
reviewer John Kelman notes, "In many ways Natural High is the Gambale album that his fusion
fan base needs to hear - demonstrating the firm but sometimes forgotten link between
mainstream jazz and one of its many stylistic descendents." Instrumental Guitar "<p>(Acoustic/Fusion/Jazz)<p>07:30 You Are All The Thing...
Steve Vai's new record label, Favored Nations, is proud to feature their debut release from guitarist Frank Gambale, Coming To Your Senses. Monster guitarist Frank Gambale is back blending his unique sweep picking technique with powerful jazz rock melodies that showcases his legendary talent. Winner of several Guitar Player magazine Reader Poll awards, Gambale's Coming To Your Senses is the must have album from jazz fusion's greatest guitarist. The music is powerful, captivating, and energetic. Gambale has blurred the lines between jazz, fusion, and rock guitar and has found a welcome home in each genre.  Fabrizio Leo is a new breed of guitar hero who has been influenced by incredible players such as Greg Howe, Brett Garsed and Vinnie Moore, but who has also forged his own style, brimming with techniqua and fantastic melodies that should earn him a place among other great guitarists in the Tone Center / Shrapnel Records catalog. Interestingly, his song "Yeah Vinnie!", off Cutaway, is especially dedicated to Vinnie Moore for his artistic inspiration. Leo did all the work on Cutaway himself, with just the drummer from Citriniti, Danilo Citriniti, assisting him with sound engineering. The fusion/shred style embodied by Greg Howe on his early releases will be sure to catch a lot of ears on Leo's debut album.  Style: Fusion/Progressive Rock<p>Fusion for Miles features some of the greatest names in progressive jazz/ fusion guitar, each paying tribute to master musician and jazz legend Miles Davis, a pioneer of modern jazz and fusion. A gifted composer and powerful band leader, Miles left this world with a legacy of phenomenal compositions, a universal reputation for introducing the world to many important jazz artists who first apprenticed under him, and a vast number of people who were touched by and learned from his stylized harmonic genius. Those musicians, whose music he influenced, were not just trumpet players but nearly all students of jazz and among them are the incredible guitarists who have come together to lift up their guitars as their voices in this unique tribute. FEATURING GUEST GUITARISTS: Eric Johnson, Bill Frisell, Pat Martino, Warren Haynes, Jimmy Herring, Mike Stern, Bill Connors, Steve Kimmock, Bireli Lagrene and Jeff Richman.<p>Trumpeter Miles Davis shifted gears so many times during his forty-ye...

The jazz super-group Fourplay was born out of a collaboration first appearing on Bob James’ Grand Piano Canyon, and consists of the following accomplished musicians: Bob James (keyboards), Lee Ritenour (guitars), Nathan East (bass and vocals), and Harvey Mason (drums and percussion). Individually, these guys need no introduction, and collectively, they’ve enjoyed more critical and commercial success than almost any jazz group in the last 10 years.<p>Tracks:<p>1)Bali Run

Originally released in 1988, the Grammy-nominated, all-instrumental Guitar contains over two hours and ten minutes of influential guitarist Frank Zappa's guitar solos, collected from the 1979 to 1984 tours. The 2-CD set includes, "Do Not Try This At Home", "Chalk Pie" and the classic "It Ain't Necessarily The Saint James Infirmary". Frank Zappa himself approved the master in 1993 and stated, "For the most part, the solos have been left full length. This album is not recommended for children or Republicans."
